Back after 6 years & stronger than ever. Belgium's Cowboys & Aliens, one of my guilty pleasures when it comes to dusty stoner/ hard rock. These guys are somewhere between Kyuss & Fu Manchu with their own grooved out dirty looks. After releasing 4 full-length albums between 1997 & 2005, the band called it quits. A sad day for the (quite small) Belgian stoner rock scene. Cowboys & Aliens was one of the reasons I fell in love with the genre, my favorite locals & still highly underrated . Last year, the band announced a new EP to be released early 2012, quite the surprise! What seemed like the last breath of a once great band turned out to be one hell of a comeback. And I'm serious, Sandpaper Blues Knockout is amongst the best musical achievements this band has put out. It's groovy, catchy & rocks damn hard. Monumental stoner/ doom from Sweden. Spelljammer is a fairly fresh band, and they made one hell of an entrance with their debut EP. This one is filled with slow, hard hitting riffs, massive grooves & killer vocals. Kongh & S:T Erik instantly came to mind. Looks like we have another winner from the beautiful Sweden.. Since the release of their latest album "II", the future of this band somewhat drowned into a fog of uncertainty & confusion (with the departure of Andy in mind: frontman/ vocalist/ guitarist). More info about that here & here . Black Pyramid II is currently blasting through my speakers at unholy volumes, teaching me another epic lesson in stoner/ doom & heavy metal. A little more experimental & dynamic, but still damn catchy & utterly heavy. Should this band ever call it quits, here's their excellent discography in excellent quality for your listening pleasure, personally ripped & arranged. In between my factories I stop at local eateries, and my symphony fabric office to reenergize.  An easy coffee break is Dunkin Donuts on the corner of 36th and 8th ave in Manhattan.  However, Dunkin received a "B" rating..... so I will NOW trek several blocks north to Starbucks. Dunkin you should be ashamed!  Luckily, I don't eat donughts. Thanks Bloomberg!

And also here.  That pot in the lower right hand corner is a rice cooker....for lunch time.  Designers and production staff are frequently here to check patterns, samples and.....again for fit, until styles are correct.

Bell Witch is a fresh Doom duo from Seattle, WA. These 2 guys deliver a crushing wall of sound in the tradition of bands like Corrupted, Evoken, Ahab, Asunder,... Utterly heavy, epic & atmospheric. As far as the genre goes, this demo has to be one of the best things I laid my ears on in a long, long time.. The intro track sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the album.
