Anima Morte - The Nightmare Becomes Reality (2011)

Image
'In this day and age where artists and bands are taking the 60’s and 70’s as inspirational grounds a particular release sometimes stands out. Anima Morte is an instrumental band who digs in the soundtrack and big conceptual albums of that time and tries to recreate the sound and feeling of acts like King Crimson, ELP and Rick Wakeman. This album features the horror movie theme and they manage to perform this very nicely. They state the composers as Ennio Morricone and Fabio Frizzi as big influences and that shows. The music has a lot of tension building and suspense, according to the theme of course.' - Lords Of Metal Latest full-length, released on Transubstans records . Anima Morte - Face The Sea Of Darkness (2007)

Image
Here's something quite different for a change; Anima Morte or "vintage Italian horror music from Sweden".This band brings us back to the good old days where horror had weird, proggy, unique & memorable soundtracks. This is a highly atmospheric, eerie & a refreshing take on the usual tunes. Even if you don't know a thing about Italian horror (and it's soundtracks), you should give it a listen. This is enthralling prog-instrumental music with an incredible atmosphere. Another underground gem that cannot be missed! animamorte.com myspace.com/animamorte Physical needs: Transubstans records MP3@320Kbps Download or Download 2 Scans Download

Kong - What It Seems Is What You Get (2009)

Image
Found this little gem at my local music store, thought I'd share it here.. A little history: Kong is a progressive/ experimental group from Amsterdam, formed in 1988 by guitarist/synth programmer Dirk de Vries, guitarist Aldo Sprenger, bassist/synth programmer Mark Drillich, and drummer Rob Smits. They play a fully instrumental & distinctive mix of genres, from electronic-industrial to more heavy riff oriented rock. From wikipedia: 'The band is perhaps most notable for the quadrophonic approach to their shows: live performances are played in a quadraphonical live set-up, an idea that came from one of Kong’s very first gigs. On the opening-night of an art exhibition in a squatted Amsterdam bathhouse there was too little space for the band to play together, so each band member took his/her own independent stage and P.A.-stack by his/her side to one corner of the club. It proved an interesting set-up for the band and created a strange experience for the audience.'...

Secret Saucer - Element 115 (2005)

Image
Fantastic psych/ space rock from Ohio, fully instrumental & definitely worth a listen; 'Secret Saucer started in 2001 with recordings for the first album - got together for one weekend in Ohio exactly - and jammed. Everyone picked up whatever instrument he felt like playing at the time. Even though it sounds like well thought-out song compositions the music is purely improvised coupled with some slight krautrock leanings. 4 songs were released as an EP first and the essence of the 12 hours lasting recordings was finally used for the first full album 'Element 115' which saw the light of day in 2005 released by the Dead Earnest record label. Two years later in 2007 the next production 'Second Sighting' followed taken from summer 2006 sessions. Another fine instrumental album full of cool spacey sounds.' - progarchives myspace.com/secretsaucer Buy on Cd Baby . MP3@320Kbps Download or Download 2
