Sweden's "Odyssey" is quite hard to describe, their approach is straightforward while staying experimental in the rocks-like-hell department. Imagine Nick Oliveri's Mondo Generator with a more raw, sludgier & overall heavier sound, in the likes of early Melvins maybe. Here's a band that's definitely not afraid to break barriers & try something else for a change. "Abysmal Despair" is Odyssey's debut full-length released through Transubstans Records . One of the more memorable tracks on this thing has to be " Wicked Witch " (known from the 7'' split with the revamped Black Pyramid), a rifftastic sludgy stoner rock anthem. Others are somewhat hit & miss, but there's plenty to explore. Love it or hate it, this is a pounding lesson in stoner, sludge, noise & garage rock with some really rough edges. Odyssey is Swedish greatness and they delivered a good, fun album for those who like their stoner rock different ...

Think Baroness meeting up with The Melvins at a Masters Of Reality concert. This is not necessarily heavy music, but it packs a punch. Impressive instrumental post-sludge from Canada. This is a great demo that brings us back to the early days of the Savannah, Georgia scene. It's hard not to mention that these guys love their Baroness & Kylesa. Sorceress is a an ambitious band, and they sure know how to deliver some solid grooves. I highly enjoyed this Demo, and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for some post-barbarian sludge with an edge! A colossal request: Judd Madden from Melbourne, Australia. This solo musician delivers some amazing tunes with these 3 monumental releases. A lengthy, but highly rewarding experience. Influenced by everything sludge, stoner, doom, psychedelic, ambient, progressive & post-metal. Think Pelican, Boris, Neurosis, Isis, Flood & especially Boris to name a few. Drown takes us on a rather dark & raw sludge/ doom trip. Float is a light, dreamy progressive/post-rockish experience. Waterfall (the first release by Judd & currently my favorite) has a more varied approach with some deep riffs & refreshing interludes. From the production to the instruments, this is an impressive one-man job. Some down-tuned destructive riffs in here, warm acoustic guitars, and a lovely piano. Expect a dynamic & highly atmospheric sound. My only (small) complaint is that the overall package could use some extra polishing; the sound can get quite repetitive & the lack of any vocals or even ...

Dickkicker from Tallahassee, Florida. Now that's a bandname, actually this album is like a kick in the dick; Fast, powerful & highly effective. Their sound could be compared to bands like Black Tusk & Howl. A more uptempo, crossover style of sludge/ doom & stoner metal. Somniloquent is a straight-forward but highly enjoyable listen.
