YOB - Atma ( Profound Lore Records )   What can I say? One of the biggest & baddest stoner/ doom bands out there, they never cease to amaze me. This is YOB's most brutal & raw release yet. My no.1 favorite for 2011... Blood Ceremony - Living With The Ancients ( Metal Blade ) Blood Ceremony had me in 2008 with their magnificent s/t album. It was a refreshing old school take on vintage doom with a folkish occult side. Let me start by saying that 2011 was a year full of anticipation, surprises & let downs. For Stonerobixxx it was another busy year, filled with requests, discoveries & reviews. But also a year of doubt . Doubt that led to astonishment and new possibilities. This blog has become one of the biggest in the genre in it's 4 years of existence, with almost 2000 dedicated google followers & over 10.000 daily page views. A massive shout-out to you guys, who made this possible with endless amounts of love & support. The fans, the artists, the lovers, the haters, anyone who visits & shares this blog. Dumping 2 more classics before the holidays, on a death/ doom streak... Here's a really hidden gem in the genre. Cianide from Chicago, Illinois saw the light back in 1990. This is their debut full-length from 1992 after self-releasing 2 demo tapes. This is classic ten ton heavy death metal played at unholy slow tempos.
