The Devil's Blood - Come, Reap (2008)

'The Devil’s Blood is a band that shamelessly dives into the obscure 70s progressive-hard rock and hits exactly the right chord. If you don’t know any better you would swear this is a lost gem that must gain the same cult fame as their occult equivalents as Black Widow, Lucifer’s Friend, Coven and especially their personal hero Roky Erickson (of 13th Floor Elevators fame). I think The Devil’s Blood is even better. They also cover Roky’s ‘White Faces’ of Roky Erickson & The Aliens’ self-titled debut from 1980. The female singer gives with her bright, exorcising voice a brilliant contrast to the dusty, authentic 70s sound of the instrumentalists. Once again a great job by Pieter Kloos, although cobweb fetishists might prefer the gravel, hollow sound of their 2007 demo. Well, these wankers shouldn’t rattle about their eccentric deviations, because the five rituals are a feast for fans of obscure and occult. Highlights are the title track and the ten minutes of ‘Voodoo Dust’ that’s stiffed with psychedelic bluesrock solo’s in the vein of Rory Gallagher and Roky. My oh my, what a joy it is to have such bands as The Devil’s Blood these days!' -Lords Of Metal

Nostalgic occult rock, hailing from The Netherlands (Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant). Some truly enjoyable & haunting female vocals in here. For fans of Jex Thoth, Blood Ceremony, Ghost,.. just to name a few recent ones. Essential for those with a rather classic & obscure 70's mind!

Debut EP, released through Profound Lore / Ván records.
